- Entrants reserve the copyright in all entry materials
- The Seoul Metropolitan Government has the right to use the images or other materials of selected entries for archiving or public relations purposes, not for any commercial use.
- Notices
- All entry materials should be written in English. Submitted materials will not be returned.
- Joint submissions(group applications) are acceptable, but each group applicant should involve no more than two members.
- An individual, or group applicant may send in a maximum of two entries.
- The following entries are disqualified and, if selected, the selection will be cancelled and their prize money and certificate will be withdrawn.
- Any entry that has been published previously
- Entries should be original creations that has been unpublished in both online and offline media for any commercial or non-commercial purpose by the date of the final award announcement on October 15(Scheduled).
- Any entry that has won an award previously
- An entry that is considered plagiarized
- Any entry that is deemed to disturb the public order and standards of decency
- Any entry that does not abide by submission requirements and standards
- Any entry that is engaged in legal disputes regarding related local and international laws including patent law, utility model law, design law, trademark and copyright law.
- In the event a selected entrant fails to make complete submissions in the final judging stage.
- In the event entry materials submitted for the final judging are clearly of low quality, comparing to the previous ones.

- All awardees will be granted a certificate in the name of the mayor of Seoul.
- Final award winners will be awarded with the following benefits.
- 1) Awardees will be invited to major event programs (exhibitions and festivals) of the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009, and conferred the prizes at the closing ceremony to be held on October 29, 2009.
- 2) Each of local awardees will be given an opportunity to participate in short-term overseas training programs, while foreign awardees will be invited to attend event programs of the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009.
- Detailed benefits will be notified to awardees individually after awardees are determined.
- 3) Awardees will be granted the right to use the Seoul Design Competition winner logo.
- 4) A copy of the competition catalogue will be presented to each awardee. The catalogue to be distributed to design related institutions worldwide will serve as a medium to promote selected designers in the global design arena.
- 5) Award-winning entries will be showcased during the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009 (Oct. 9 ~ 29, 2009), as well as presented online at the SDO homepage.
- 6) Award-winning entries and their entrants will be publicly announced and introduced to the international design community.
- People's Choice Award winners will be granted a certificate and a copy of the catalogue individually, and their winning entries will be on exhibit both online and offline.
- Honorable Mentions winners will be granted a certificate and a copy of the catalogue individually, and their selected entries will be on exhibit both online and offline.
- Judgement
- Jury: The jury is composed of leading design experts from home and abroad.
- Names of the jury members will be revealed on the internet at http://sdo.seoul.go.kr around this coming June.
- Judging Criteria: The judging will be based on the criteria including Creativity, Sustainability, Innovative Concept, User Experience, Feasibility, Appropriateness to the Theme, and Aesthetics.
- Judging Process: The 1st and 2nd round of judging will be conducted online, while the final judging will be performed on site.
- The first online judging stage(Jul. 24~30, scheduled): All entries will be reviewed and accessed by the international jury on the internet.
- The second online judging stage(Aug. 13~19, scheduled): Entries selected in the first round of judging are eligible.
- Selected entrants will be asked to submit their works in the manner specified in the second judging stage.
- Jurors' comments on selected entries will delivered to the entrants, allowing them to make improvements to their designs for the next judging stage.
- The third on-site judging stage(Oct. 9~11, scheduled): Shortlisted entries will be reviewed.
- Shortlisted entries will be on display at Jamsil Sports Complex during the Seoul Design Olympiad(Oct. 9~29), among which final winners will be decided by the evaluation of the professional jury and citizens.
- Shortlisted entrants will be asked to submit their works in the manner specified in the third round of judging.
- The competition organizer will use JPG formatted images submitted to the third round of judging in making presentation boards, while video files at AVI format will be played on screen during the exhibition.
- Announcement: Final winners will be announced at the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009 homepage.

- Any identifying information must not appear anywhere other than in the entry form.

- ¨ç Entry Form : Complete and submit the online entry form at the SDO homepage.
- The entry form includes work profiles(title, written description within 500 characters) and personal data(name, nationality, job, contact information and etc).
- ¨è Images : Files should be in JPG format(200dpi or higher in RGB), no larger than 10MB in total capacity, and vertically-oriented. Max. two pages in A3 size (W297¡¿H420mm)
- Image files should be in JPG format (200dpi or higher), but there is no limitation in form (A panel, a single image or a combination of multiple images is acceptable).
- In case of animations, major still cuts in JPG format should be submitted in the first round of judging. (Entrants selected in the first round of judging will be asked to submit their videos in the second round.)
- ¨é Written Description: Written description should be in MS-Word file format. (Max. 3 pages in A4 size)

- ¨é One image for catalogue: JPG format(CMYK, 200dpi or higher), A5 size(W148¡¿H210mm), vertical format.
- ¨ê One video clip(AVI format, 3D or 2D, 720¡¿486pixel, max. 3 minutes), or a sample product(mock-up, or one-sided prototype is acceptable.)
- Both a video clip and a sample product are acceptable.
- Files in 3D format are recommended in principle, but if unavailable(web design, 2D animation), moving images in 2D format are acceptable as well.
- Shortlisted entrants are allowed to make improvements to their designs based on the jurors' comments from the second judging round. and submit the improved versions.
- How to submit: Entries should be submitted either by mail or in person on 7 through 18. More detailed instructions will be notified to shortlisted entrants individually.
