KIM Changsoo/ Chairman, Korean Institute of Architects
As Vice President of Samwoo Architecture & Engineering and professor of architecture at Soongsil University and Korea University as well, KIM Changsoo has been dedicated to teaching young aspiring architects and developing the architectural industry. He completed the undergraduate and graduate course of architecture at Korea University. He has been serving on the board of many organizations including the Korea Underground Space Association(1992~present), Korea Iron and Steel Association(1995~present), Korea Institute of Healthcare Architecture (1997~present), and has been chairman of the Korean Institute of Architects since 2008. He has also advised many public committees and organizations, such as the Central Construction Technology Deliberation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs (1996~present), Technology Deliberation Committee of the Korea Land Corporation(1998~Present), Korea Institute of Construction Technology(2000~present), Korea Institute of Registered Architects(Jul. 2002 ~ Jul. 2004), and the Architecture Committee of the Gangnam District of Seoul. His representative projects include Yongdungpo Branch of Sinsegae Department Store(1984), JoongAng Daily Headquarter Building(1984), Samsung Everland(1987), Glass Tower, TechnoMart, Clinical Research Institute of Seoul National University Hospital, Jinhae Park Hotel(1995), Head Office of Sinsegae Department Store, Tower Palace I & II(2003), Centennial Memorial Hall of Korea University, Tower Palace III(2004) to name a few. He won a Presidential Citation in the Daejeon International Exposition(1994) and official commendation by the Daegu city for his outstanding project 'Daegu Opera House,' and was recognized in the Korean Architecture and Culture Award in 2001.
KIM Jooyeon / Professor of Space Design, Hongik University
KIM Jooyeon studied architecture at Kookmin University. He is currently professor of space design at Hongik University, and also works for um&partners. He has been serving as a board member of IFI(International Federation of Interior Designers) since 2007. He won the KOSID(Korea Society of Interior Architecture/Designers) Top Designer Award in 2008, official commendation by the Busan city, the Ministerial Prize of Construction and Transportation, and many other prestigious awards. He gave a lecture as a guest speaker at the APID conference held in Dubia. He is an author of many outstanding books including 'Architecture Giants, Invited,' 'Design in Space, Space in Design,' 'Environmental Design Application,' 'The Interesting Story on Interior Design,' and others.
CHOI Choonwoong / Professor of Architecture, Korea University
After receiving a bachelor's degree from the University of California and a master's degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, CHOI Choon-woong earned his US architect license. He was the former professor of Parsons The New School for Design in New York and Columbia University in 2005 - 2008, and acted as a participating designer in the 7th Gwangju Biennale. He is currently professor of architecture at Korea University, and a planning member of the Urban Design Institute of Korea as well. His writings on such topics as the 'work of James Carpenter' and 'Sensibility and Intellect' appeared on some architecture magazines. In 2006, he published the Korean version of the book entitled 'East Asia: Shaping the Contemporary City.' He is recently giving lectures on the topics of 'Search for Minor Discrepancies' and 'Landscape/Infrastructure.'
KIM Saehoon/Professor of Cartoon and Animation, Sejong University
KIM Saehoon is teaching cartoon and animation at Sejong University, and serves as a non-permanent member of the Korea Film Council. He currently works for KNP Pictures, acting as the general director of a feature animation film 'NARAKA.' He is a graduate of the Hongik University with both a BA and an MA in graphic design. He received an MFA in animation from the UCLA Graduate School of Film & TV, and then a Ph.D in Film Art fromthe Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science, Multimedia & Film (GSAIM), Chung-Ang University. He produced and directed many short animation films such as 'The Bird is No Longer Living in Their City,' to name a few, and led animation workshops with using a wide range of techniques. He was the jury chair of the DongA LG International Animation Festival, researcher and host of the EBS TV program 'Anitopia,' and chief programmer of the SICAF International Animation Film Festival.
JUNG Jihong/ Professor, Graduate School of Techno Design, Kookmin University
JUNG Jihong is an adjunct professor of interaction design at the Graduate School of Techno Design, Kookmin University. He spent a year of research at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China in 2007. He has been devoted to such fields as analysis of user behavior and interaction design based on digital media, with a special focus on visualization of information, accessibility for the disabled, and service design. He acted as a Korea Design Exhibition judge and also led a working group for the design sector in the Next Generation Growth Engine Initiative. He is currently a vice-president of the HCI Korea and a board member of the Korea Society of Design Science.
PARK Seongho / Professor of Digital Media, Ewha Women's University
PARK Seongho, a media architect, is an adjunct professor of digital media at Ewha Women's University. He studied industrial design at Seoul National University, business administration at the Business School of Kookmin University, and then received a Ph.D in art research from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He calls himself a media architect or media sculptor in that his job is to structuralize media. He actively performs projects, crossing the board between printed media and architectural space, as well as traveling between the real world and virtual space. He was awarded the 'Academic Award of the Year' by the Korea Digital Design Council in 2006, and the Creative Designer's Award by the Korean Federation of Design Associations in 2008. He is currently serving as the chairman of the Asia Digital Art & Design Association(ADADA), executive board member of the Korea Society of Design Science, vice-president of the Korea Digital Design Council, and vice-president of the Korea Society of Information Design. In 2004 and 2008, he acted as chair of the organizing committee of ADADA International Conference, and in 2008, as chair of the organizing committee of the HCI conference.
KIM Mijeong / CEO, IL Communication
After graduating from Ecole D'Art Maryse Eloy in Paris in 1994 with a Master's degree in visual communication design, KIM Mijeong founded IL Communication in 1997, which specializes in cultural contents planning, art lighting, and media exhibition. She chaired the Art Lighting Contents Committee of the Korea Society of Urban Landscape in 2008, and is now serving as a planning adviser of the Seoul Design Olympia 2009, as well as a jury member of the Public Design Competition 2009(new media/communication/ animation sector). She participated in many remarkable projects including Gwangju World Light Expo 2009, Image Mega Show of LUCI Congress in Lyon, Digital Canvas of Cheonggye Stream titled 'Looking for Happiness,' Illuminating Image Installation for the Seo district of Incheon city, and others.
KIM Taeho / Professor, Chonbuk National University College of Arts
After graduating from the Graduate School of Industrial Design, Hongik University, KIM Taeho joined the design team of Taihan Electric Wire and then Daewoo Electronics. He was the former dean of the Chonbuk National University College of Arts, and is now industrial design professor at the university. He is also chairman of the Korea Association of Industrial Designers, and heads the Design Value Innovation Center and Industrial Design Research & Development Center of Chonbuk National University. He acted as a jury member of the 1992-2001 LG International Design Competition judge and 2000-2001 Daejeon Industrial Design Exhibition. KIM Yongill / Vice Chairman, Leo Motors
KIM Yongill is Vice Chairman of Leo Motors. Prior to the this position, he worked as chief executive officer at Hyundai Innocean Communications, a Hyundai Motors' subsidiary specializing in marketing and communication activities. He has long been with Hyundai & KIA Motors, responsible for brand and design innovation at the marketing sector, and also headed the Hyundai & Kia Design R&D Center While studying and working in European regions, he has gained rich experience in industrial and transportation design field. He carried out many projects incorporating design and marketing, and pushed forward with integrated communication strategies. He obtained a master's degree in industrial design in Europe, and then a Ph.D in design science from Kookmin University in Seoul. In 2004, he was awarded Presidential Commendation(Bronze Tower).
KIM Heungryeol/ Professor of Industrial Design, Sookmyung Women's University
KIM Heungryeol is professor of industrial design at Sookmyung Women's University, where he is responsible for the Sookmyung Industrial Design Research Center and Corporate Information Design Center. In addition, as an active industrial designer dedicated to experimental design projects, he launched a living design brand 'the AL' and a promotional brand 'sid¡® for Sookmyung Women's Univ. He holds a BA and an MA in industrial design from Hongik University, and carried out numerous design R&D projects for Korean leading companies such as LG Electronics, Hyundai & Kia Motors, Amore Pacific, and ENEX. He is leading the Eco Design Research Group of the Korea Association of Industrial Designers. He has been recently committed to the development of living design product items aiming for design promotion, as well as to research on emotional interface applications in digital environments.
OH Changsup / Professor, Konkuk University School of Design
OH Changsup graduated from the Industrial Design Department of the Seoul National University, and then earned a Ph.D with a thesis on 'Korea's modern design culture viewed from the perspective of the progress of modern design users.' Keenly interested in culture, he has been looking for new possibilities of design. He is a favorite author of books on design issues, including 'Design And Kitsch,' 'This Is Not A Chair,' Looking For Meta Design,' 'Strolls About In A Man-made Heaven,' and 'Design In 9 Keywords.' He participated in the planning of some important public projects including 'Tells about public design'(2007), a special event of the Korea Public Design Expo; '40 years of visual culture and design in Korea'(2008), an exhibition hosted by the Korea Design Foundation; and 'Seoul Designers' Dream'(2009), a special event of the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009. He is currently professor of design at Konkuk University where he is responsible for the Meta Design Laboratory.
YANG Youngwon / CEO, CREA Design
YANG Youngwon is CEO of CREA Design, a furniture design and distribution business. He studied western painting at Hongik University. He carried out design development projects while working for Korean leading furniture companies such as Hanssem and Fursys. Among his major projects are 'Hanssem Euro,' a system kitchen unit; 'Euro Tech,' 'Puzzle,' and 'X-Face,' office furniture sets. In 2004, he opened 'WELLZ,' a furniture and interior shop where a wide array of furniture and interior products created by domestic and international top designers are showcased. He aims for a total design management brand that helps raise the social status of designers.
CHUNG Kuho / Managing director, Ceil Industries
CHUNG Kuho studied communication design at Parsons The New School in New York, and launched his own fashion brand 'KUHO' in 1997. He worked for F&F KUHO, Ssamzie from 2000 to 2001, and now for Cheil Industries as a managing director. He was responsible for art direction and costume design for such Korean movies as ¡®An Affair,¡¯ ¡®Tell me something,'Asako in Ruby Shoes,' 'A Day,' and 'Untold Scandal.' He was awarded the best costume prize in the 45th Daejong Film Festival, and also won the best art design prize in the 3rd MBC Film Awards. Furthermore, he is active in the fields like drama and contemporary dance, as a fashion designer, film director and art director
CHO Taikyeon / Professor of Industrial Design, Hongik University
After studying architecture at Chung-Ang University and earned an engineering Ph.D, CHO Taikyeon started his career at Perkins &will, New York. He received his second master of architecture degree with a thesis on 'Manhattan Reconstruction Plan' from the Pratt Institute in 1990. He contributed an article on the artificial marine ecosystem to Space, the architecture monthly, in which he suggested a possibility to combine digital and physical space. He earned his third master of architecture degree with a thesis of 'Gala Project' from UCLA in 1994. In 1999, he became a licensed architect in New York, when he also started his Ph.D at Chug-Ang University in Seoul. He held his second solo show 'Sepectrum of Paradigm' in 2000, and in 2004, became an associate professor at Chung-Ang University. He wrote a book entitled 'Future is Wonderful' based on the richness of his experiences in 2006, when he also obtained an engineering Ph.D degree with a focus on HyperMath Architecture in Ubiquitous Space.
CHOI Ikseo / Professor of Industrial Design, Hongik University
CHOI Ikseo, an exhibition and interior designer, teaches space design at Hongik University. He studied industrial design at Hongik University and Domus Academy of Italy, and has been involved in researches and projects in the fields like exhibition & display, museography and urban scenography. He carried out R&D activities in exhibition and space design, focusing on such topics as ¡¸Domestic Transplants & Urban Liftings; Mail-order Habitat¡¹, ¡¸Fair Marketing As a Winning Corporate Communication Strategy¡¹,¡¸Polysemous Presentation of Space and Intertextual Assemblage Design Technique¡¹. Among his key projects performed are 'Everyday Life in Urban Space,' an exhibition by Hangaram Design Museum; 'Techno Garden,' a special exhibition in celebration of the 3rd ASEM Summit in Seoul; 'Invitation Exhibition of Italian Pavilion,' part of the 9th Venice Biennale; 'KT Art Hall,'; and 'Seoul Pavilion' at Shanghai Expo 2010. He was awarded official commendation by the Minister of Culture and Tourism for his contribution to the construction of the Hangaram Design Museum, and also won prizes in the Korea Interior Design Exhibition in 2006.
CHUNG Ganghwa / Professor, Konkuk University
CHUNG Ganghwa is an adjunct professor of design at Konkuk University, and serves as the chairman of the Korea Association of Lighting Designers. He holds a Ph.D in lighting design from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He set up many night landscape plans, commissioned by local governments including Seoul, Gwangju, Chuncheon, Kimpo and Jeonju city. His representative projects in landscape lighting include Sungnyemun, Namsan N Tower, Star City of Konkuk University and others. He was awarded by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and the Seoul City Architecture Award.
HONG Seokil / Professor of Design, Yonsei University
Suk-il Hong is an associate professor at Division of Art & Design, Yonsei Unoversity and also serves as Vice Chairman at Korean Society of Public Design. He graduated from Department of Computer Graphics, Graduate School of Art & Design at Pratt Institute in New York City and finished course work for a doctorate degree from Graduate School of Seoul National University in Korea. He is involved in many activities in the public design field as a member of Public Design Culture Forum at National Assembly, Seoul Metropolitan Design Committee, Seoul Citizens Committee for Inner City Recreation, Design Kangwon Committee, Wonju Design Committee, He designed a Seoul street guide sign for pedestrians, drinking fountain for Arisu, tab water brand for Seoul Metropolitan Government. He played an important role as a Master Design Planner for Hoechoen New Town Project managed by Daehan Housing Corporation, as well as a planner for City Design Planning Project managed by City of Siheung. He published many books on public design and translated books on graphic design, 3D computer-generated images and issued many papers on graphic design. He was a design advisory professor for Samsung Electronics and taught prospective design students at Samsung Design Membership for many years. He served on many design competition juries in Korea including Korea Industrial Design Competition and Seoul Design Olympiad Design Competition.
JANG Soongak / Professor of Interior Design, Hanyang University
After graduating from the Architecture Department of Hanyang University, JANG Soongak received a Master's and Doctor's degree from Pantheon-Sorbonne in Paris, and then earned a C.E.A.A at Ecole d'architecture de Paris-Villemin in 1999. He is currently professor of interior design at Hanyang University and co-head of Jay is Working, a design consulting firm. He has been also serving on the board of the KOSID(Korea Society of Interior Architecture/Designers). He won the KOSID Award and iF Communication Design Award in 2009. He participated in 11 remodelling projects of MBC's famous TV Program 'Love House.' His works frequently appear on many architecture and interior magazines.
CHOI¡¡Jeongsim / Professor of Display and Exhibition Design, Kawon School of Art and Design
CHOI Jeongsim is chief researcher at the Urban Culture Research Laboratory dubbed 'Haedangwha.¡® She also serves as a member of the Creative Cluster Development Group in the Presidential Committee of Balanced National Development, as well as an executive board member of the Korean Institute of Spatial Design. She worked as general director responsible for public design projects of Anyang city, Design Korea event, and Asia Design Network. She won grand prize of the Anyang Public Design Project in 2008. Recently, she lectures on public design to public employees and politicians.
KIM Kaichun / Associate Professor, Kookmin University
Professor of Interior design Dept. at the kookmin University in Seoul Korea, and majored in Zen philosophy at the Dongkuk University. He have been represented as a president and the¡®invited designer¡¯of KOSID. He write and design on relations between Zen philosophy and oriental esthetics in this century. He is the author of several articles on esthetics of ancient Oriental Architecture. Most recently he has written widely in the Beauty of world Architecture. CHANG Dongryun / President, Icograda
Dong Ryun Chang was born to diplomat parents and grew up on five continents - Asia, Europe, North and South America, and Africa. He was educated at the University of British Columbia in Canada, the Parsons School of Design, and received his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. Don then worked for several organizations such as Nara Advertising, Design Focus in Korea, Steiner &Co. in Hong Kong, and was Creative Director for the Infinite Group. Don founded DC&A in 1991, which later became one of the leading identity companies in Asia, The company merged with Interbrand in July 1999 and has developed acclaimed identities for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Korea Telecom, Shinhan Bank and Korea Tourism Office.Don has received numerous international design awards from prestigious organisations such as the Brno and Warsaw Poster Biennale, and the Type Directors Club of New York. Don lectures widely on branding and is currently Dean of the Graduate School of Advertising at Hongik University in Seoul. He has served as Vice President of the Visual Information Design Association of Korea (VIDAK) and was the Executive Organizing Director for the 2000 Icograda Millennium Congress in Seoul. Don is currently advisor for many institutions including the Korean Olympic Committee, Seoul Metropolitan government and is the author of five books including How to succeed in business with design and Brand Media Innovation.
YANG Seungmu / Professor, K'ARTs
As a professor of K¡¯ARTs(The Korean National University of Arts) has been spent mostly on achieving the goal to set up the new school as a starting faculty member and head of dept. and competitive interaction design studio which is a pioneer in the field of interaction design in Asia. He graduated from RCA(Royal college of art) in London and he was a visiting professor, dept. of Information art & design at Tsinghua univ.in China. It led him to art and technology based interaction design world and help him construct his future plan in interaction design for ubiquitous art design and technology. He is chief professor of K¡¯Arts center for consilience of ubiquitous arts and technology in Korea. His focuses of research are designing interaction , tangible interaction design, interaction design for information architecture and interaction design for intelligent environments.
PARK Kijun / Design Director, KDA Group of Korea
Born in1956. Worked for Space. Went to the United States in 1980. Graduated from Pratt Institute (B.F.A) in 1985 and S.V.A(M.F.A) in 1988 and worked for Amko Media in New York. Returned to Korea in 1989. Have worked for KDA Group (Architecture, Interior, and Environment design) as a Design Director for 20 years. Representative projects for Architecture are LG DIOS in Gallery, Havoner EXPO 2002Korean Building, Maxtyle in Dongdaemoon. Representative projects for Interior are the lobby of POSCO Center, LG Design Center, POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology). Designed Incheon International Airport in environment design that was the first big environment design project in Korea. Selected Environment Designs are The Street of Joseon Dynasty in Jongno signage and street furniture, Yang-ju New Town-Heoi Cheon, Gangnam-gu Media Pole, Digital Media City in Sangam-dong and apartment manuals for SK E&C, POSCO E&C, Daewoo, Daelim etc. Taughtin Hanyang University, Korean Multi Art School, Seoul National University, Sangmyung University, International Design Graduate School.
IN Chiho / Professor, Hongik University Industrial Design Dept.
Chi Ho In is Professor, Department of Industrial Design, Hongik University, Seoul, Korea. He hold a B.E from Urban Design Dept in Hongik Unversity, and a B.S & M.S from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, USA. He also hold a Ph.D from Graduate School of Environmental Studies in Seoul National University. As a vice president of Korean Society of Public Design and a public design specialist, he has been consulting for the Seoul Metropolitan Government as well as many other Local Governments.
Paul Kelley / Furniture Designer
Since leaving college in the early 1980's I have only worked for myself. However in that time I designed and made the first major shop for the Design Museum in London, this was in 1993, and then spent the next 4 years working in the US. On returning in early 2000 I worked for mainly for private clients once more and then from 2004 I have designed and made pieces for Paul Smith, William Grant and Sons and the Hotel Intercontinental group.
Dan Formosa / Founder, Sm art Design
Dan was a member of the design team that developed IBM¡¯ first personal computer. He is a founding member of Smart Design, where his work ranges from OXO Good Grips kitchen tools, an icon of Universal Design, to the interface for satellite radio in the US. His work has been included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Dan helped conceive Ford¡¯ SmartGauge, an instrument cluster for Ford¡¯ 2010 hybrid automobiles designed to save fuel by influencing driving behavior-a radical innovation for the auto industry.
Davin Stowell / CEO, Smart Design
Davin Stowell, who founded Smart Design in 1979, has been responsible for a wide range of projects in fields ranging from kitchen products to consumer electronics. Davin is responsible for growing Smart Design from a concept that design should be about people, to a successful 100+ design firm. His accomplishments include the original development of OXO Good Grips kitchen tools as well as CorningWare products that have dominated in the kitchen for 30 years.
RHEE Kyungdon / Professor, Shin-gu University
Graduated from Joong-Ang University with both a Bachelors of Art and Masters in Art majoring in Architecture. Additionally, took Ph.Dcourses focusing in Architectural Studies at Kook-min University. Currently employed as a Professor at Shin-gu University, within the Division of Space Design with a pedagogy and researching position within the associated filed.
Received the Honorary award while participating in the Korean National Art Exhibition Architect section. Served both as the Korean Institute of Cultural Architect Vice-President and Korea Society of Color Studies President. As a Director of general at the Seoul Metropolitan Government Design headquarters planned and oversaw regulations of urban design establishm ents and enforcement.

LEE Soonin / President, Seoul Design Center
Professor Soon-In Lee graduated from the Hong-Ik University in Seoul with a BA in Industrial Design in 1972 and received an MA in Interior Design in 1978. He completed his studies at Pratt Institute, New York, and the Domus Academy, Milan. In addition, he graduated from Helsinki University with an MBA in Design Management in 2001. In 1990, Soon-In LEE became president of the LG Europe Design Center in Dublin, and in 1995 director of the LG Electronics Corporate Design Center in Seoul. During the same year he became Executive Managing Director of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP). Today he is President of the Seoul Design Center. Soon-In LEE taught at various universities, and since 2003 he is a lecturer in the postgraduate course "Design Management" at the Hong-Ik University. He is Chair of the Korea Design & Brand Management Society and was general director of the Gwangju Design Biennale 2007.
CHI Yongkyu / Vice President, MOTO DESIGN
I have majored in Industrial Design from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. I am currently the vice president of MOTO Design and Adjunct Professor of University of Seoul. I explore new design areas for future lifestyle on products and space, based on my experience from Electric Home Appliances Company. My masterpieces were done with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency: Japan International Space Station "KIBO", Hybrid Rocket Design, Ubiquitous Airport Leading Design in Incheon International Airport, basic design in Future Public Information Museum of SK Telecom, and Wind Turbine Design in Samsung Heavy Industries. My main theses are "A Study onApplication of User Experience Elements in Webzine" and "Environmental Design: Space Art for the ISS and for a Lunar Base". I am a recommended artist for Korea Industrial Design Exhibition and Grand prize winner of the 2nd Korea Association of Industrial Design Awards in product section. I opened private exhibitions.

Michael consults and advises on the development of design polices, most recently in Iceland, Ireland, Italy and Qatar. As President of BEDA, Michael was instrumental in initiating the European Commission's first-ever, EU-level policy work on design as a tool for innovation during 2008. This culminated in a Europe-wide consultation document published by the Commission on design as a driver of user-centred innovation in late April 2009.

Adrienne Viljoen / Manager, SABS Design Institute
Adrienne Viljoen initially qualified in Fine Art but devoted the greater part of her career in establishing Design Promotion in SouthAfrica. She served on the board of Icsid from 1995-1999 and again from 2003-2007. She is the Icsid Regional Advisor for Africa and is regarded as an Expert on Design Promotion for Developing Countries. She started the Design for Development Initiative focusing on development of products for developing communities. Sheco-founded the Network of Africa Designers (NAD) and developed the 2009 NAD Design Charter. She initiated the 1999 Icsid Interdesign on Water and the 2005 Icsid Interdesign on Sustainable Rural Transport. As only female member of the 2003 Icsid Board, she initiated and completed a comprehensive international survey; Women in Design on the profiles of the female membership of Icsid and Icograda. She acted as the South Africa Project lead for the benchmark IDA (International Design Alliance) World Design Survey completed in2008. (Both published on www.icsid.org) She started the annual Prototype Initiative with the SA Institute of Intellectual Property Law to support New Product Development. This resulted in a number of Guides to Intellectual Property Rights in SouthAfricaandtheestablishmentoftheannualIDEA TO PRODUCT seminar series. She founded the popular Design Achievers programme for the development of SA Design leadership. She is a founder member and serves on the management committee of DEFSA (Design Education Forum of Southern Africa). She regularly participated and presented papers on SA Design internationally. She serves on several juries, most notable since inception, is the TOP Technology 100 Companies in SA
